Ag Stocks

Friday, July 20th, 2007

I’ve had a few requests from people to list out the current Ag holdings we are using in client accounts. Here is the list so far along with the type of company it is:

AKZOY – Akzo Nobel, NV (Chemical)
BF – BASF AG (Chemical)
BAY – Bayer AG (Chemical)
MOS – Mosaic Company (Fertilizer)
POT – Potasch Corp (Fertilizer)
TNH – Terra Nitrogen (Fertilizer)
KR – Kroger Company (Retail Products)
SFD – Smithfield Foods (Retail Products)
AG – AGCO (Machinery)
CAT – Caterpillar (Machinery)
DE – Deere (Machinery)
ETN – Eaton (Machinery)
MON – Monsanto (Seeds)
SYT – Syngenta (Seeds)
DBA – Powershares DB Agriculture (Commodity)
RSGUF – Rogers Sugar (Commodity)

We are reviewing other companies to add to our list and are trying to build a 10% to 15% allocation to Ag in client portfolios, depending upon the client. The trend in ag is in the beginning stages, so we have been lucky to get in early. Not all of these companies are appropriate for everyone; some are more aggressive than others; some are more income oriented than others; and some have risen really high really fast.

Hope you find this info useful.
